What our tutors say about working with WorldWise students (20)

Notes our tutors shared after first sessions.

Tutor feedback
"The session went well! He stayed on task for the whole hour, which was great! Starting next session, I will assign out-of-class homework as well to help with some particular skills, including identifying subject vs predicate phrases and learning word roots (Greek and Latin) and the meanings of prefixes and suffixes. We confirmed the next session. I am looking forward to meeting with him again!"

"I enjoyed working with [the student]. I thought she (and her mom) were focused and knew what they needed to cover most. Having [the student] so invested in the process and making sure that she achieved her goals was really helpful in making sure that we got to everything she needed to work on."

Tutor feedback
"They are very curious and jolly kids, despite coming back after school. They were overjoyed to have a session, which is very rare for a kid at that age. Their mom is amazing."

"First session was great, [the student] was great to work with. She is super bright and has a lot of work to do to prepare for her exam, but we have high hopes! Nothing to be improved at the moment. I made her a separate file with all the information we will need during our sessions. It's been shared with her mom and her. Looking forward to continuing to connect further."

"The first session went very well! [The student] was a sweet, respectful, and shy young lady. Her mom welcomed me with her kind, outgoing personality. [The student] recognizes value recognition for whole numbers. She learned about fractions and decimals in the moment, and used my guidance from previous problems to inform her thinking with the next problems. I was glad I chose the escape room because it had a story attached to it, and she likes stories like me!"

Tutor feedback
"[The student] is a brilliant little girl. Her parents encourage academic enrichment outside of school hours (e.g., jigsaw puzzles, academic workbooks). She knew exactly where her materials were and her supplies were organized. She is inquisitive and is a self-advocate."

Tutor feedback
"I think the first session went really well! [The student] asked really thoughtful questions throughout, and we had a really nice discussion about financing her college education. She's a straight A student, other than struggling in College Algebra last semester. She also didn't know a lot about student aid and different options for funding college, so I plan to make a presentation or possibly a cheat sheet of sorts to help her. I also plan to help her get ahead in College Algebra and her Finance course. I also am really passionate about Finance as I'm a Finance major, so I have a presentation tucked away that I plan on updating to give to [her]. At the end of the session, I gave her a to-do list, mainly of things relating to financial aid and scholarships that she can do in between sessions."

Tutor feedback
"It's going really well! What went awesome was how [the student] caught on really quickly on how to complete each activity. He also needed very little prompting for the letters."

Tutor feedback
"It went well, everything went smoothly and I believe we got off to a good start. I really enjoyed working with [this student]. He was very attentive and eager to learn, and quickly corrected any mistakes he made. He also did a good job retaining the takeaway from the lesson."

Tutor feedback
"It went really well! [The student] is driven and he knew what he wanted to work on, and his mom is very supportive. His mom was happy that I would be able to do English and science prep, so next time we will continue to prep for his STAAR exam, but also touch on some topics in Physics that he had missed during his school year, Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC). Overall, [the student] is a very creative and driven student and I was able to encourage him in his ideas for essay writing, as well as give pointers on how to structure and phrase his points. I will need to prepare some materials for going over IPC topics for our next session."

"[The student] is super sharp with some anxiety, but we spoke about working on this. She requires confidence building; but knowledge-based, she is superb. [She] is ready to work and easy to get along with. Follows directions very well."

"The first session went well. I feel I was able to build a good rapport with [the student], and I felt he was attentive and communicative with me throughout the session. He was very interactive during the session, which I appreciate as a tutor. It lets me know the student is listening closely and is engaging with the material."

"It went really well! [The student] has a great mindset for learning. Mom was worried about the 1.5-hour session being too long but she did a really good job. She was driven by seeing progress through stickers. I would reward her hard work with 5 minutes of coloring and when the time was up she went right back to work. She really enjoyed the activities where she was moving manipulatives or cards, so I will center work around that!"
